Bronnley History

The Story Behind Bronnley

 H. Bronnley & Co. began as a privately owned company and was started in 1883 by a 19 year old entrepreneur, Jimmy Bronnley.  Jimmy spent a year in Paris where he studied the art of perfumery and soap making.  He returned to England with the ambition “to make the best soap in the world”.

The first factory was in London, but as the business grew, the company moved its center of operations to the town of Brackley, in the heart of the English countryside.

Bronnley is renowned for its elegant soaps, which are richly perfumed and produced with the highest quality ingredients.   The soaps have a rich and creamy lather to help care for the skin. Bronnley triple-mills its soaps to ensure a number of important attributes.  Triple-milling enables the ingredients, such as Almond Oil and perfumes, to be mixed thoroughly and evenly into the soap.  The process produces a soap that is finely textured, smooth and soft.  Allied to other production techniques, this ensures that the soaps can be moulded to a high standard of shape and detail.  It also ensures the uniform all the way through and are less likely to crack prematurely.

As a premium producer of the finest quality, Bronnley also produces a comprehensive range of  toiletries, personal care and perfumery products with the best natural ingredients from around the world.   Bronnley currently produces four fragrances in the Classic Floral Collection:  Apricot and Almond, Lavender, Orchid and Pink Bouquet.  The Royal Horticultural Society Range has expanded since its introduction in 2004, the current fragrances available are: Passion Flower, Rose, Peony, Hibiscus and Gardeners Range.  The Citrus Spa Collection is another range that has grown from the Lemon and Neroli fragrance to include Lime and Bergamot, and Orange and Jasmine.  James Bronnley Men’s fragrance was a wonderful addition and along with the Body Care for Men there are now  two fragrances for Men.    Other fragrances available from Bronnley are Oyster Shell, The New Honey Blossom, Destination Soaps, Herbarium and Animal Soaps.

An aspect of Bronnley’s manufacturing activities, which sets it apart from competitors, is the production not only of soaps and toiletries but also of the packaging.  The Bronnley Factory includes a print works where cartons and boxes of all types are made and sales literatures are printed.   Bronnley also has its own design department where new products and packaging are developed, and also an in-house laboratory where innovative formulations and exclusive perfumes are created.
